COLLEGE FOOTBALL

And so it begins...another season of college football! Most of you know I love college football! Even though the first game was on Thursday night, it officially starts Saturday with ESPN COLLEGE GAME DAY. They will be at VT for their opening game with kickoff at 12:04. Although the tragedy of April 16, is probably the reason they chose VT to start the season off, having them there always add to the excitement of the day. There will be a special ceremony 15 minutes before game time to remember the ones who lost their lives on that sad day in VT history. Hopefully when they kick that football, the mood of the game will lighten up and the fun will begin. I must say I haven't missed the OSU hype by living in VA this month. Although Roanoke covers more VT than UVA, they do at least mention another team playing in the state. Blacksburg is about 40 miles from Roanoke and Charlottesville is 80 miles so that is why they lean more to VT, or that is my opinion!!

But anyway....good luck to the CAVALIERS tomorrow and of course.

GO HOKIES!!!!

NOW, I cannot mention college football without the mention of the team up north..so

GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

CANINE INTUITION

Have you ever heard that a dog knows when an earthquake is about to hit?

Have you ever heard that a dog can sense when a tornado is stirring up, even twenty miles away?

Do you remember hearing that, before the December tsunami struck Southeast Asia, dogs started running frantically away from the seashore, at breakneck speed?

I am a firm believer that animals and especially dogs have keen insights into the Truth.

And you cannot tell me that dogs cannot sense a potentially terrible disaster well in advance.

Simply said, a good old hound dog just KNOWS when something isn't right . . when impending doom is upon us . . .

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

This past week we made a trip back to Ohio to check on the nest. We arrived around 3 on Wed., to do some general cleaning, yard work, etc. We were just getting settled in around 5:30 when we got a call from our realtor to show the house from 7:30-8:30. So we did some general cleaning right away!! We left the house around 7:15 came back around 8:40, to find the realtor and the "lookers" still there. When we came into the cul de sac we noticed it was the same realtor that had been showing our house to a young couple with a 5-6 year old and a baby. They recognized our car but we just kept on going and waited until they left. We got back before the realtor left and he said this makes what the 4th time they have seen the house?? They brought the parents this time, I think the entire family has now seen the house!! The parents might be helping with a down payment, so this was a good thing. The realtor said the parents really liked the house too, but so far, no SHOW ME THE MONEY!! I always thought I would like to be a realtor, but I don't think I could handle the "anxious" sellers and the indecisive buyers!!! Since their realtor thought he might hear something on Friday or Saturday we decided to stay through Friday.

Well, as we all know, God is good. Late Friday afternoon, Donnie went to the basement to get something and found a puddle around the furnace. We believed the drain from the furnace to be leaking so he took it apart, and bought new parts. While we were working I looked and water was standing in the pipe that leads to the drain. I hit it on the floor and swoosh the water went out. We think it was probably just stopped up. But we (more he, than me) fixed it, poured bleach down it and hopefully solved yet another problem and avoided a bigger one!! It was still working good when we left and I pray it still is today, or there will be some wet boxes in our basement!!

Our next road trip will be this Friday when we go to Richmond to help my sister assemble her new TV stand and hook up the new big screen TV!!

WIRELESS

Today I became wireless! Aaron came over and help me connect my new laptop computer router and now I can be in the basement on a computer!! Donnie got me the laptop for our anniversary, and since this was the TAX FREE weekend in VA. It was a great time to shop and buy!! Best Buy and Circuit City had everything in their stores tax free, including BIG SCREEN TVS!! My sister got hers!! I went with the laptop. We got a Gateway because Circuit City offered a free router and printer. We had first decided on a 17" HP because I like the side number key pad. I never really learned how to use the numbers at the top of the typewriter. I think when they taught that I was bored and said hey, won't be using those numbers that much anyway...so now I am slower typing numbers!! The HP laptop was exempt from the free router and printer offer..so us being who we are sacrificed and got the free stuff!!! I did purchase a wireless keypad and mouse, but thinking I might take it back. Don't know if I will be using Microsoft Money on the laptop and that was the main use of the key pad. I know I will enjoy the laptop and I might even share with Donnie.....MIGHT, I SAID!!!
